ANNUAL REPORT

DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

The San Bernardino County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is the second largest child support agency in California. DCSS’ brand, “Champion of Children” emphasizes making a positive difference in the lives of families. DCSS places great importance on program awareness to ensure that our customers and the community know about the free services we provide and our commitment to work with both parents to address child support issues. DCSS partners with many county agencies and community based organizations to ensure we are meeting the needs of both parents and helping to remove barriers like unemployment, underemployment, license suspension, domestic violence, and homelessness.

Accomplishments:

  • In collaboration with County Workforce Development Department, DCSS hosted two job fairs where 47 vendors participated and 565 job seekers attended.
  • Completed the update of the DCSS website, which includes program-related information and resources for customers in an easy to navigate format.
  • Secured additional funding and was able to hire over 100 new caseworkers to provide holistic case management, increase engagement with families, and continue to deliver a high level of customer service.
  • Expanded the “DCSS in Your Neighborhood” initiative into five city and county libraries on a monthly basis to provide after-hours services in the community to educate and assist in removing barriers to child support.

Goals:

  • DCSS will provide customers with alternate methods of communication through the use of technology like messenger, texting and live chat.
  • DCSS will expand partnership and engagement with Veteran services providers, active military, and Veterans Countywide.
  • DCSS will continue to increase Public Awareness about the child support program through multiple Social Media platforms and Advertising.

DCSS is committed to continuing our Customer Service Campaign, Holistic Case Management approach, and collaborations with others in the community. These goals and initiatives are the foundation for creating an agency in which employees and customers can work together in making a positive difference in the lives of children.
