The Transitional Assistance Department (TAD) enhances the quality of life in the community by administering support programs to persons in need of financial, nutritional, and/or medical assistance, while working with families and individuals to attain self-sufficiency. TAD is committed to working collaboratively to provide our services accurately and efficiently, with a high emphasis on integrity, respect and customer service.

Building upon our successes and leveraging the experience and innovation of our staff, TAD continuously evaluates business processes to ensure we are meeting the needs of the community with a high emphasis on the customer experience.

Accomplishments:

• Housing Support Program: Permanently housed 390 California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) families in collaboration with the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino to promote housing stability winning the 2017 CSAC Challenge Award.
• CalFresh Program Access Index:
  • Awarded 2017 ‘Best in Class - Large County’ for improved CalFresh accessibility and participation.
  • 92.7% Program Access Index rate for SNAP/CalFresh participation.
  • Successfully engaging customer enrollment in the CalFresh program.

Goals:

• Create and send proactive text notifications informing customers of various information and required actions regarding their CalFresh case.
• Successfully open three new TAD offices, one in Apple Valley and two in San Bernardino.
• Assist CalFresh customers in obtaining employment and training to move towards prosperity.
