How Are IHSS Payments Made?

• The rate paid to provider in San Bernardino County is $18.10 per hour. This rate is determined by negotiations by the Service Employee International Union (SEIU) and the employer of record which is the Public Authority (PA) in San Bernardino County. The State issues all checks for individual provider payments. If the provider qualifies, the State withholds the applicable amounts for disability insurance and Social Security taxes.
• Your provider must submit fingerprints for background clearance.
• Previous conviction of any of the following three crimes will prevent an individual from becoming an IHSS Provider. Tier I crimes are as follows:
• Fraud against a government health care or supportive services program.
• Abuse of a child.
• Abuse of an elder or dependent adult.
• There are also Tier II criminal convictions that will prohibit an individual from becoming an IHSS provider.
• Your provider must complete all applicable enrollment activities. Active providers who wish to enroll for additional client(s) can pick-up a provider enrollment packet at any DAAS-PG office.
• New IHSS providers must attend an SEIU Union meeting to receive a provider enrollment packet. SEIU Union meetings for new IHSS providers are held at the following times and locations:

** Please arrive 30 minutes early for the registration process.

• Timesheets will be made available to your provider after the provider’s Social Security Number has been verified.
• You and your provider must complete, sign, and submit timesheets verifying the delivery of authorized services. Your provider will not be paid until completed timesheets are submitted for processing.
