The Department of Aging & Adult Services (DAAS) was formed in 1992 as a result of merging the Department of Adult Services and the Department of Aging. DAAS is the designated Area Agency on Aging that enables the department to receive Older Americans Act (OAA) funding to provide services. Examples of some of the services supported by OAA funding are senior information and assistance, nutrition, family caregiver support program and senior supportive services (such as, transportation and legal).
The Area Plan document addresses how the Area Agency on Aging will serve older individuals, adults with disabilities, their families and caregivers. Details of the services supported by OAA funding are included in the Area Plan and service levels are identified. By providing a comprehensive and coordinated system DAAS, acting as the Area Agency on Aging, strives to reach and serve the populations targeted by the Older Americans Act.
