Services We Provide
Our
services have a profound effect on the lives of
the families that
we serve. Our services are aimed at
assisting children with getting the basics of
daily living. We make a difference every
day. Some of the services that we provide
are:
Locate the Non-Custodial Parent
-
We have the ability to locate the parent in order to establish a child
support order against them. This can be a long process depending on
the amount of information that we have to start with. When you open a
case, please provide as much information as you can about the other parent
since this will shorten the time that is spent looking for them.
-
Establish Paternity (Fatherhood)
-
Paternity for a child can be established either by Paternity Declaration or by court order. Our office can assist in either process.
Please contact us for more information.
-
Establish a Support Order
-
A court order is needed to establish a child support. This process begins opening and serving the other parent legal paperwork.
-
Enforce a Support Order
-
Once a child support order exists, the next step is to collect/enforce the
order. The most common method our department uses is a wage
garnishment. A wage garnishment is a document sent to an employer
ordering them to take money from a person's paycheck and send that money
directly to the State Disbursement Unit If the wage garnishment is
unsuccessful there are other collection/enforcement methods that you may
want to discuss with child support officer.
-
Modify a Support Order
-
Our department can also assist you in changing the amount of child support
that the court has ordered. This is called a modification of child
support. This process requires certain information from both parties
such as location and income. If you are interested in changing in
changing your child support order, please contact this office for further information.
-
Establishing and Enforcing a Medical Order
-
Establishing a medical order is similar to establishing a child support
order, but only addresses medical insurance. Once medical insurance is
order for the minor children, a National Medical Support Notice is sent to a
person's place of employment ordering them to place the minor children on
any available medical insurance.
