Joanna is a sweet and animated girl who likes human touch and to play with soft stuffed animals. Often she can be observed bobbing rhythmically back and forth in her wheelchair as if in response to an unheard soundtrack. Joanna is uncharacteristically calm and receptive when touched; she does not flinch or retreat in any way. She reacts with a giggle or laugh when her upper arm is touched. Joanna loves to roll around on the floor and she can often be heard clapping and laughing. Joanna is described as a very happy child
