-
First, you need
to attend an orientation, where you will receive
information about foster care.
-
Next you will
attend PRIDE training to help better equip you to care
for foster children.
-
After all your
paperwork has been turned in, a licensing worker will
call you to set up an initial appointment to see you.
-
The licensing
worker will come to your home for the appointment. Both
parents must be present.
-
The initial
visit will take 2-3 hours. You and your licensing worker
will discuss various issues, like the type of children
you want.
-
Besides talking
with you, the licensing worker will look at your home to
make sure it is safe for children.
-
The licensing
worker will recommend that a license be issued. The
supervisor reviews and then Okays the recommendation.
-
The license is
typed. You will receive it by mail in a few weeks.
-
You are now
licensed to receive and love children. Placement workers
will be calling you.
-
Remember not to
take more children than you are licensed for.
-
If you have
problems or questions, call your licensing worker. We’re
there for you.
-
Your licensing
worker will come out each year for a 1-2 hour visit.
Thanks for making a difference in a child’s life.
