Child Care and Development Planning Council
Convened by the County of San Bernardino Board of Supervisors
and the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools
OVERVIEW
The San Bernardino County Child Care and Development Council has been an active entity
in San Bernardino County since July 1991. Charged with planning for child care and
development programs and with setting priorities for expenditure of Federal Child Care
Block Grant funds as well as State Department of Education child care dollars, the Council
has been restructured several times, but has always maintained its dedication to ensuring
that the children and families of San Bernardino County has quality, safe, affordable and
accessible child care and development programs available.
MISSION
Our children are our future. It is the mission of the Child Care Planning Council to
promote the availability of quality, affordable, accessible child care facilities and
services for families who reside and/or work in San Bernardino County.
VISION STATEMENT
Our Children are our future.
All Children are deserving of a life free from fear and full of possibilities.
Children are not raised in vacuum...it takes a community effort.
Parents have the right to be involved on making decisions that affect their
children.
Child care should be available, accessible, affordable and of a high quality
for all resources.
Child care should provide age and developmentally appropriate activities for
all ages and incomes .
PARTICIPATION
The Child Care Planning Council is appointed one half by the Board of Supervisors and
one half by the County Superintendent of Schools. While only appointed members vote on
issues brought to the Council, the community at large is invited to participate in the
activities of the Council and attend the monthly meetings. They are also eligible to serve
on subcommittees and project groups.
