The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System is part of the Desert Pacific Healthcare Network. The Healthcare System is comprised of the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center and five community clinics located in Corona, Palm Desert, Sun City, Upland and Victorville. Opened in 1977, the Medical Center is named in memory of Congressman Jerry L. Pettis, who worked diligently to locate the facility in Loma Linda. It is one of the top 50 employers in the Inland Empire; with over 1,660 employees and 800 volunteers that serve over 40,000 veterans who entrust their healthcare needs to the VA. The Medical Center provides a wide variety of services through inpatient, outpatient and home care programs. The major bed services are Medicine, Surgery, Behavioral Medicine and Neurology. The facility has 97 acute care beds and a 108 bed Nursing Home Care Unit.
