Welcome to the Preschool Services Department Website |
The Preschool Services Department (PSD) administers the Federal Head
Start and Early Head Start programs, California Department of Education State Preschool
program, as well as the Child and Adult Care Food Program in 43 locations throughout the
County of San Bernardino. All programs are fully funded from Federal and State sources
with no local cost.
PSD serves about 6000, disadvantaged families with children ages 0 - 5 and pregnant women.
PSD’s priority population includes:
Our programs are family-oriented, comprehensive and community-based which address
developmental goals for enrolled children, support for parents in fulfilling their
parental roles and becoming self-sufficient and linkage to other services and resources.
PSD offers a full array of child development and family support services which include:
- Health (Medical and Dental Screenings and Follow-Up)
- Access to Prenatal and Postpartum Care
- Nutrition Education
- Mental Health / Behavioral Services and Support Groups
- Disability Services
- Education and Job Training
- Literacy Programs (Adults and Children)
- Food and Nutrition Services
- Transportation (available in most outlying areas)
**Services unavailable through the Department are made available to
families through a referral system**

provide a foundation for success for children by giving them the highest quality child
development and family support services throughout the County of San Bernardino.
